My adventures in learning to machine knit and whatever comes to mind

Good grief!

I just looked out the window AND we have ice, snow, sleet and rain, all coming down at the same time!  No wonder I  feel like I had been beaten.
Over the weekend, we had some lovely weather, even got up in the 70’s on Saturday, and lots of sunshine!  Sunday was warm too, but not as warm as Saturday, and no sunshine, which made it seem ever colder, but still couldn’t complain about it.
Now, we are back to winter, yesterday stayed right at freezing, or below all day, was 24 when I went to bed last night, was the same when I got up at 5:30 this morning, it just made it to 32 an hour ago…and the temps are starting to drop again, and they keep saying we are going to get a big storm!  I sure hope not!
I need sunshine, lots of it, so I can start feeling human again, and to be able to get things accomplished.
I have about 5 projects planned, and want to make a start on each one, that way I will keep going with them.
Right now, I just want to get some things up for sale, and make room for other things I want to do.  I’ve been buying plastic totes, as able to afford them, so getting my yarn sorted out in the totes, which will make it easier to locate what I need when I want it, instead of spending days going through cardboard box after cardboard box!
I’ve been rearranging things here, and hoping to get one of my sewing machines set up across from one of my knitting machines.  I’ve been debating as to whether I should set them up facing each other, and me sitting in the middle, or whether I should have my sewing cabinet and KM table back to back.  If facing each other, would only need one chair, with them back to back, will almost certainly have to use two chairs, which will eat up more space, and I don’t have much of that to spare.  Guess I should just get busy and start moving things and see which will work best.

Bad weather

It is just above freezing her right now and raining.  We are supposed to get from four to six inches of wet heavy snow overnight, and they are saying it will bring power lines down.  So, if you try to contact me and I do not answer, it is more than likely I have no electric (or heat!), and am offline.  Id that happens, I  will contact you as soon as I get my power and heat back.
That will depend on how bad the storm is, and how quickly the power company can get to the damaged areas and string new line.  They do have their ducks all in a row, including out of area power company workers ready to move in and help  repair the lines and get us up and running again.
I would appreciate all prayers for Bo’s and my safety during this latest weather adventure.  Prayer for my roof to hold up under the weight of the snow, will especially be appreciated.
I will be listing more MK books and other machine knitting items as soon as I can, so please check back to  see if I have listed something you need.

7am and its 19°F

I’ve been awake since 5am!  I don’t know what woke me…going to be a long hard day without much sleep.  I was hoping to list some books for sale, but have a knitting machine to get out and pack for mailing tomorrow.  I think I had best start my morning with a big breakfast!  I’m going to need all the energy I can get.  Check back later to see if I survived and managed to get the machine packed and books listed for sale!

First bad snow and icy roads.  Now it is 22 °F!  At least the wind has quit trying to blow us away.  Was your internet slow today?  Ours was! Moving like a turtle.  I think it was because of all the last minute shoppers.

It could have been the weather though, that was quite a snowstorm we had yesterday and today, plus, all the rain we had the two days before that.  This is frustrating, whatever is causing it!  Guess I will shut down for the night.

This has been another bad week

Lots of rain, doesn’t want to stop, and making me ache like crazy, plus I’ve been suffering with a stomach virus, and feeling awful.  I’ve not been able to get motivated to do anything at all that I don’t have to do.

I am getting closer to getting my car on the road, so that is a blessing, maybe next week, if luck holds.  Then I will be able to get to the doctors to have this lump in my back checked out, and also to the dentist to get my tooth pulled, which isn’t going to be fun. I have to take massive doses of antibiotics before they can pull it, or I risk an infection in my heart, so that means two trips down the mountain, and two trips back up it, just to get one tooth pulled!

Will probably be lots of waiting around both visits, so best have some knitting ready to go with me.  I found this hat pattern a few days ago, and I want to make it, maybe I will save it for then.  Should be pretty mindless knitting so will work.  I got on a hat knitting kick while I was laid up in bed this winter, and even though I knitted up four of them, I still want to make more!

I will be so happy to get it out though, it has made me really miserable, to say nothing of not being able to eat much.

I finally got a lot of sleep last night, so I do feel a little better today, plus I think I am coming out of this latest fibro flare.  I sure hope so!

Good news is, they say the rain should be going away soon, and hopefully it will warm up, and we will get some sunshine!  I am sick of rain and temps in the 50’s.  Maybe Bo and I can even get back to taking some short walks.

Last week was a terrible week…

I’m praying this one is much better.  It has to be, I don’t think I could stand two of them in a row.  It seemed like everything went wrong last week, and I had to keep reminding myself, “This too, shall pass.” just to keep from totally losing it.

I’ve been trying to sell some stuff, so I can get a car on the road, and be able to get to the doctor and dentist, but its not going well at all.  Not sure which way to turn now, guess I will have to dig out more items to try to sell.

Too make matters worse, we’ve been having more thunderstorms, and the barometer has been going crazy, and I’m in the middle of a big fibro flare, took me three tries just to get out of bed this morning, and my knees have been giving me fits, and I’ve almost fallen a dozen times today.

I’m up much too late, need to get to bed, have to get up early and finish up some things I started working on last week.

Will be listing more machine knitting things soon, so if you are looking for anything, keep watch to see what turns up.

Going to go to bed now, hopefully things will look brighter in the morning.

Tornado watch!

We are under a tornado watch until 3pm today.  A storm is getting ready to hit, the rain has just started, and it is very dark out.  This morning it was a warning, so a watch is better!

I want to play around with knitweave on the Singer SK360, but cannot get motivated.  I don’t seem to have energy until bedtime, so maybe I should sleep during the day and stay up nights…!

Here comes the rain…

so here I sit waiting.  I did something to my left leg today, pulled a muscle?  I don’t know, but I’ve barely been able to walk all day, and getting up and down the stairs (which I cannot escaped doing) has been extremely painful.

I hear thunder too, and it is looking awful on radar, so I know its going to be a really bad storm.  I had prayed for it to miss us, but it is hitting us smack dab on!

I did manage to knit a swatch today, yes, I know, it seems that is all I knit these days…but this one was for a sweater, but my gauge was way off, so have to knit another one at a looser tension.  I knit that one at TD6, so it will have to be either TD7, or perhaps even TD8.  as I was pretty far off with this one.

My plan is to make a sweater from the book The 100 in 1 sweater by Loretta Conley.  I see she gives charts in the back for them, and I thought about using the knit radar to knit it, but I’ve never used it before, and I probably should start with one of the patterns that came with the radar, so I’ll have a better idea of what I’m doing, instead of maybe doing up my own pattern and managing to mess it up.

Somewhere here, I have a book that covers the knit radar, but I’ll have to look for it, as its been a long time since I bought it.  I’ve been digging books out of the bookcase lately, and going through them while I rest, and I have some great books, I just need to get myself organized better, so I can try some of the things I’m reading about.  I really want to experiment with tuck stitches, I am fascinated by what Regine Faust has done with them, and I also want to explore knitweave with Kathleen Kinder.

I hate Fibromyalgia!

I hate it!  I hate it!  I hate it!  What is Fibromyalgia?  It is a monster, an EVIL monster that comes and steals your life away…and just when you think you are feeling better, and life is going great, it sneaks up behind you and knocks you back down.  Its always there, you don’t see it, it is hiding just out of your sight of vision, but it sees you, and just waits for the opportune moment to take over and control your life.

Forget making plans, the FMS monster knows about them as soon as you do, and it steps in to throw a monkey wrench into those plans.  It wakes you in the night, it makes you hurt so bad you cannot go back to sleep, then in the morning it sits and laughs as you struggle to get out of bed…it dogs your every step, making sure you don’t have a moment where you can enjoy yourself.  It throws a fog over your brain, and you cannot think straight, then weighs your body down so it cannot move, and pain, it can think up more ways to create pain, than an internet scam artist can to steal your money…:-(

We’ve been having bad storms since late afternoon, lots of thunder and rain.  Some of it quite severe.  Also hail, and its very foggy.  I pray everyone is safe tonight.

Its not one big storm, its lots of little ones.  One hits, then its gone, and a little bit later another one strikes!

Ugh, that thunder just shook the house!  Good news is, its not supposed to rain tomorrow or Sunday!
